The Imani Women Empowerment Program is a vocational skills training program that aims to empower young women to start and run successful business ventures. With scarce employment opportunities, it is challenging for young mothers to find jobs. This program addresses this by empowering vulnerable women through job creation, helping to alleviate poverty. Our trained women need to sharpen their tailoring skills by learning business aspects through the sewing production unit. The Sewing Production Unit is part of Imani's sustainability vision to integrate these women into a business model. There are over 150 schools in our vicinity, and sewing uniforms for these schools will create jobs for the women. Through this, they will earn salaries, grow their skills, and eventually start their own businesses in towns where they identify a niche for uniforms or similar opportunities. Problem: Job creation and providing school uniforms for local schools as part of our sustainability project. Impact Assessment: Employment of 30 girls per 6-month cohort and 60 women annually. Community awareness of the skills training program, gaining support from government-sponsored initiatives. Revenue from uniform sales will fund salaries and the tailoring program. Leadership development and skills nurturing, enabling women to start and grow their businesses.
